Probably Stolen aquaculture and fish farming

Updated

Probably Stolen aquaculture is the game's fish farming system. You buy Water Trader in Wild's Network first, then Aquaculture for a base 400 credits before discounts. The tank is a recirculating system that needs power, water and filters, and it covers six fish: three tilapia varieties that breed in captivity, while eels, electric eels and sturgeon do not. The unlock and tank details come from GameWikiStation's aquafarming guide, and the species and yield figures from the fish guide on probablystolen.fit, a fan site.

Probably Stolen aquaculture setup and tank needs

Probably Stolen aquaculture unlocks through Wild's Network. Buy Water Trader first, then Aquaculture for a base 400 credits; Aquaculture II costs a base 1,200 and needs Aquaculture first. The first upgrade supplies a starter kit and opens a weekly visit from a retired aquafarmer. The second brings larger fish to those visits and gives you two young eels straight away, according to GameWikiStation's aquafarming guide. NPC Tips describes the same unlock order, and says the starter kit holds a fish tank, fertilized tilapia roe, an Energy Cell and two bags of fish feed.

The tank is a recirculating system. Its water reservoir holds 12,000 ml and is filled in place, and the system needs power and filters to run. The grid starts at 8 × 4 and grows to 12 × 8 after four width and four height upgrades. GameWikiStation's Aquafarmer start guide warns that the Aquafarmer start and the Aquaculture starter kit are different, so check what you actually receive, and that the water supply has to keep up with the tank's demand as the fish grow.

The fish guide on probablystolen.fit says a battery, water and a filter are what make the system run. It also says that the full 12,000 ml tank is the limit on the combined water needs of the fish inside it. Once those needs go over that limit, fish health starts to drain.

The fan-run Probably Stolen fish farming guide dates fish farming to the 2026-10-19 Demo update, where it arrived as the Retired Aquafarmer upgrade. It also lists Aquafarmer as a starting scenario in the 1.0 release.

Which fish you can raise and which can breed

Probably Stolen aquaculture has six fish. The table gives each one's diet, whether it breeds in captivity, its adult growth age and its adult water need, from GameWikiStation's aquafarming guide. Growth ages are thresholds, not a schedule: food, hunger, health and room in the tank can slow growth down.

The fish guide on probablystolen.fit appears to use different names for two of the tilapia varieties: Ditch Tilapia and Transplanted Tilapia. Their roles in its text match Gutter Tilapia and Graft Tilapia in the table. It places the three tilapias in the 400-credit beginner tier, and Eel, Electric Eel and Sturgeon in the 1,200-credit advanced tier.

The fish guide also warns that in a mixed tank, big fish eat small fish once hunger falls below 75%.

Tilapia breeding: roe, fry and adult fish

Tilapia can lay and fertilize roe, hatch into fry, and then grow into individual fish, according to GameWikiStation's aquafarming guide. The stage table below gives the growth age, weight and water need at each stage. The weights are baseline values, not a fish's current measured weight.

The fish guide on probablystolen.fit describes how mature females lay without a male. Keep hunger at 50% or above, and each night carries a 15% chance of one unfertilized egg. The male's real job is to fertilize eggs already in the tank. Fertilized eggs sell low and are kept for breeding, while unfertilized eggs are the higher-priced trade goods.

Eels and sturgeon do not breed in captivity, so they are a raise-and-harvest choice. Plan a tank around breeding only if you want tilapia.

What each fish earns and how to harvest it

The fish guide on probablystolen.fit gives daily yield estimates for four fish. These are its own calculations, so treat them as a guide to ranking the options rather than fixed prices.

On harvest, GameWikiStation's guide says to use a knife for meat. Surgery Tools can take eggs from a living sturgeon, but the health cost rises as egg fullness falls: 20% of its 150 maximum health at full eggs, up to 50% at zero fullness. Egg growth needs at least 90% health, and the fish guide says every 100 g of roe makes one jar of caviar worth 240.

FishEstimate in the fish guideNote from the same guide
Sturgeon56.2 average daily profitRoe starts forming from day 22
Tilapia (egg line)54.6 daily yield per eggKeep eggs for breeding instead of selling them
Transplanted Tilapia (egg line)39.2 daily yield per eggUnfertilized eggs sell for 60 each
Eel36.3 daily yieldSlaughter at large size on day 30 for fillets
Electric Eel—The guide gives a 200 apiece figure, and says the Energy Array out-earns the eel, so not recommended
Ditch Tilapia—Purify-and-sell loses to a Water Merchant selling Premium Water, so not recommended

Our take on Probably Stolen aquaculture

Think of Probably Stolen aquaculture as two loops. The tank has fixed upkeep: power, water, filters, and enough water for the stock. The fish have their own loop: the three tilapias can breed, while the three carnivores are raise-and-harvest fish. Most of the early decisions are about which loop to build first.

The guides do not agree on every figure. The fish guide and GameWikiStation give different fish names, and their age figures differ too: GameWikiStation lists elder growth ages from 13 to 34, while the fish guide lists ages from 27 to 80. Treat both as approximate, and check the numbers in your own save before you commit credits.

Frequently asked questions

How do you unlock Probably Stolen aquaculture?

Buy Water Trader in Wild's Network first, then Aquaculture for a base 400 credits before discounts. Aquaculture II costs a base 1,200 and needs Aquaculture first. The source is GameWikiStation's aquafarming guide.

What does a Probably Stolen aquaculture tank need?

The tank needs power, water and filters. Its water reservoir holds 12,000 ml, and the grid starts at 8 × 4 and can grow to 12 × 8 after upgrades.

Which fish can you raise in Probably Stolen?

You can raise six fish: Tilapia, Gutter Tilapia, Graft Tilapia, Eel, Electric Eel and Sturgeon. The three tilapia varieties can breed in captivity, and the other three cannot.

Can you breed eels or sturgeon in Probably Stolen?

No. Eels, electric eels and sturgeons do not breed in captivity. Tilapia, Gutter Tilapia and Graft Tilapia can breed, and their roe hatches into fry.

What does the aquaculture starter kit include?

NPC Tips says the starter kit holds a fish tank, fertilized tilapia roe, an Energy Cell and two bags of fish feed. GameWikiStation says the first upgrade supplies a starter kit.

How much does sturgeon caviar earn?

The fish guide says every 100 g of roe makes one jar of caviar worth 240. Surgery on a living sturgeon costs health, and the health cost rises as the egg fullness falls.

When do fish get old in Probably Stolen?

The guides give different figures. GameWikiStation lists elder growth ages from 13 to 34, and the fish guide lists ages from 27 to 80. Food, hunger, health and room can change the timing, so treat both as thresholds.

What is the best way to plan Probably Stolen aquaculture?

Decide whether each tank is for breeding or harvesting. Breed tilapia for eggs, and raise eels and sturgeon for fillets, meat or caviar. Keep power, water and filters running at all times.
